STYLE GURU STYLE: Pretty Pastels

Warmer weather is slowly but surely approaching us here at the University of Rhode Island. As the weather is getting warmer, all of the Fashionistas/os here are scrambling for new outfit choices. It may be time to finally pull out your Converse and jean jackets. Although it is definitely warming up, it is still not warm enough for sleeveless shirts or shorts. It can be difficult trying to find the perfect ensemble to keep warm, but not too warm. I found myself needing some inspiration and came across the Apiece Apart spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

With just one glimpse, I absolutely fell in love. Color is the perfect way to acknowledge the warmer weather. This collection features gorgeous pastels including pastel pink, pastel blue, aqua and even bright oranges. I particularly fell in love with this specific look. I loved the way the outfit was definitely not made for a hot day because there is no skin showing, but it screams spring at the same time. The mix of the navy and pastel blue is striking.

I decided to put together an everyday look of my own after falling in love with this look. I tried to follow a similar color scheme to the model shown. I pulled out a pastel blue Free People thermal and paired it with shiny black leggings. I threw on my favorite pair of platform Converse decked out in gold zippers and studs. Without even planning it out, I realized my nails were painted pastel blue, which matched perfectly with my top.

Sometimes all you need is a little inspiration to get your creative mind working when trying to put together the perfect look.

Get My Look: 1. Free People shirt. 2. Black leggings. 3. Platform Converse.
