STYLE GURU STYLE: Pretty In Pink

Oversized or longline outerwear has been a prevalent theme on the runway and in my everyday outfit combinations for both fall and spring seasons. There is a sense of formality and effortlessness that comes with combining oversized blazers or jackets with more casual and everyday wear. Longline outerwear makes it feel like you are getting the best of both worlds.

Nothing screams spring like an overabundance of pastel colors in one outfit, like mine. My outfit was inspired by this look in Saint Laurent’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, a collection that featured my oh-so coveted longline outerwear. Although Saint Laurent’s line had a dark color palette, I decided to do the opposite by putting together an outfit that had colors on the other side of the color spectrum. For my outfit, I combined a long pink blazer with a floral print romper that was almost the same length as my jacket. Usually I am not one to combine pieces with similar colors, but I felt like pairing the blazer with the romper really helped make the pattern of my ensemble pop even more.

When it comes to accessories, I am very minimalistic. Keeping with the whole pastel pink theme, I threw on a pair of geometric studs that complemented the colors that were in my outfit. Because there was a lot going on already with my outfit in terms of color and patterns, I decided to throw on a pair of neutral heels. Neutral shoes are a great way to tone down a loud outfit without necessarily taking away from its fabulousness.

Get My Look: 1. Pink longline blazer. 2. A printed romper. 2. A neutral pair of heels.
