STYLE GURU STYLE: Plain Old T-shirt

As a Style Guru, it’s our job to show you the latest trends in fashion from both on runway to street style. We try our best to show fellow Fashionistas/os ways to incorporate these trends into their everyday look but sometimes, designers make it über difficult. Fortunately, the one thing that has been seen popping up in some of the spring 2016 runways shoes are our beloved plain white T-shirts. Basic T-shirt lovers, rejoice!

I was super excited when I noticed how many designers were using plain white T-shirts–oversized or off-the-shoulder, you name it. The thing I personally love about these basics is that you can pair them with anything you have in your closet. Feeling lazy one day? Opt for a basic T-shirt, leggings and a comfy sweater and you’ll still look super cute. For the warmer days you can pair your simple T-shirt with a pair of boyfriend jeans and some colorful wedges.

Seeing the white T-shirt appear in so many runway shows, I have been emulating it in my style like crazy. The wonderful thing about basics is that you can wear them a thousand different ways. If I feel like dressing up a little one day but not wanting to go over the top, I’ll throw a blazer over my shirt along with a pair of black jeans and booties to still give that business casual look. Also, since it’s plain, you have room to play around with some oversized jewelry.

I really enjoyed how DKNY used a basic white T-shirt to layer under a black, sleeveless dress and ankle booties or simply pairing it with a black tulip skirt. The other favorite of mine was the brand Off-White’s look of the basic with a boyfriend style denim, which is my favorite.

Get My Look: 1. A V-neck. 2. Jean jacket. 3. Faux suede button-up skirt. 4. Booties from H&M. 5. Knee socks.
