STYLE GURU STYLE: Off-The-Shoulder Tops and Loose Trousers

Crisp whites, loose silhouettes and simple patterns are making a statement in Proenza Schouler’s ready-to-wear collection for spring 2016. The collection features an array of ankle-grazing trousers, flowing sleeves and structured shoes in a monochromatic color palette that screams classic. Small pops of color were also incorporated to keep the outfits looking fresh for spring. However, even though the collection was shown on the runway, the looks can be easily translated to fit an everyday outfit.

No matter your style, it’s always possible to incorporate different runway trends to fit your personal style. Schouler’s spring collection is the perfect example of using on-trend silhouettes that are flexible for a multitude of fashion tastes. My personal favorite pieces include the loose, ankle-grazing trousers, shoulder-revealing tops and the pointed flats used in every look. I was easily able to turn my favorite monochromatic runway outfits into a more vintage, bohemian look.

For my outfit, I decided to style two trends from the collection and paired a pair of vintage, brown pinstriped trousers with a bohemian off-the-shoulder crop top. These items together gave for a ‘70s vibe that I really enjoy and is perfect for the summer! To give the trousers some shape, I added a thin belt to pop from the dark brown of the trousers. Finally, since I didn’t feel as though the look needed much accessorizing, I decided to throw in a subtle pop of color with my pale pink pointed-toe flats, which were again inspired by Schouler’s ready-to-wear line.

This look is comfortable, yet stylish for any occasion-shopping with friends, a festival or even a date! Incorporating runway trends into your style is fun and easy.
