STYLE GURU STYLE: Monochromatic Must-Have

If you are ever wondering where you can get inspiration for your wardrobe, you must realize that inspiration is everywhere. A lot of Fashionistas get their inspiration straight from the runway. For this look, I got a little inspiration from Nina Ricci. Her spring 2015 ready-to-wear show featured a bubblegum pink and tan color scheme. The first look in her collection stood out to me the most. The jacket is tailored, but the skirt is relaxed and fun, and these are the elements I wanted my look to have.

To execute my look, I wanted to incorporate the general idea of the Nina Ricci design and then turn into something of my own. I decided to make the look more monochromatic by wearing a light pink and tan color scheme as opposed to the bubblegum pink and tan color scheme. Some people think monochromatic is boring, when in fact, it can be very chic if it’s done right. If you incorporate a bold element in your monochromatic look, it will really make a statement. For my bold element, I chose a pair of Quay Australia sunglasses.

I paired my light pink trench coat with a light pink tank top. Then, to complete my monochromatic look, I chose a neutral tan and pewter shoe. The shoes are modest just like the rest of the outfit. They have a low block heel, which makes them very versatile. They can be worn for a fun night out with friends or to class. I consider these shoes to be a staple in my wardrobe. The modest color scheme, along with the modest shoes make this a very classy look. However, if pink isn’t your color, you can put this look together in black instead. I’ve worn this look to class and I’ve also worn it to an internship. It is always good to have an outfit you can rely on for multiple occasions.
