STYLE GURU STYLE: Monochromatic is Back

Winter is here and that means it is time to break out your favorite sweaters and coats. I am not the biggest fan of winter because I do get bored of the cold weather after a certain point. But, the positive side is that my birthday is in winter and I get to wear some great pieces that I definitely could not wear in the summer.

One of my new favorite trends for this season is the over-the-knee boot. I think it is the perfect shoe to wear in the winter because it is a statement piece that will actually help keep your legs warm. I know that I personally have a lot of leggings that are not the warmest so these boots help me keep warm in the winter.

For this outfit I decided to wear a V-neck ribbed light pink tunic. This shirt also has slits in the side of it that make it just a little more interesting. As I mentioned before, I am wearing black leggings with my black over-the-knee boots. Since it is winter and very cold out right now, I needed to wear a black peacoat over this outfit to keep warm.

For accessories I wanted to keep it simple, so I am wearing a small gold necklace from TopShop that says London, because I will forever be obsessed with that place. I am also wearing some of my favorite sunglasses from Quay. They are matte black and cat-eye shaped, so how could you not love them?

This overall look is something that is very comfortable and yet still trendy and fashionable. Most of my looks tend to be monochromatic, typically black, with just a touch of color. I think keeping your outfit one color palette will keep it super easy to pair items and to get ready in the morning. With my style, I try to be as comfortable as possible because as college students I think we all know how hectic our lives can be.
