STYLE GURU STYLE: Midi Skirts

With spring in full swing and summer right around the corner I know I have been busy building up my wardrobe with internship appropriate clothing. Whether you’re going back to your same old summer job or starting somewhere new, an office appropriate wardrobe is key when it comes to working in the summer. Obviously we would all rather spend our days in Daisy Dukes, crop tops or short summer dresses; those obviously would not make it through the doors of your workplace.

This week I have taken a trend from the Marco de Vincenzo fall 2015 ready-to-wear show. Something I found to be continuously prevalent through all of the looks was the length of the skirts and dresses. Almost every single one was hitting the models at or below the knee. I know recently midi skirts have taken quite a stand in fashion, but I never necessarily thought about them for summer. But clearly I have had a change in heart.

Today I have paired my most recent steal from Express, this adorable midi skirt with a turtleneck ribbed crop top. The duo sort of just fell into my lap, I bought them as separates but after the initial pairing could not get over just how great they complement each other.

This overall neutral look left me open to experiment with accessories. My first thought was to add a neon pump but after a bit of trial and error I found I loved the continued neutral look by adding these sleek nude pumps.

Final decisions were left to lipstick and a bag. I chose against a statement necklace because of the high neck on my top. Which led me to choose my favorite oxblood red lipstick. Finishing it off with a baby pink clutch perfect for holding my essentials as I hop on the L to make it to the office every morning.

Get My Look: 1. Sleek midi skirt. 2. Bright colored bag. 3. Nude pump.
