STYLE GURU STYLE: Man, I Love The '70s

We all have that one runway show we cannot stop obsessing about. Whether it’s because we want to own every single piece from the collection, the models fit the collection perfectly or even because we liked the lighting that accompanied the runway show. Overall, they find a way to hold a special place in our hearts.

Recently, the Céline spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection is all I can think about. It captured my attention from the start and I finally realized what I found so special about it. The collection has a way of combining menswear with more feminine pieces and it does it so tastefully. Some ways the collection does this is to pair an oversized jacket with beautiful lace or plaid pants with a crop top. At the moment, we are transitioning from grunge-inspired outfits to the return of ‘70s-inspired clothing. This idea of menswear combining with a feminine touch fits the ‘70s vibe perfectly.

Seeing as the ‘70s are making a comeback, I decided to take inspiration from the Céline spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection and interpreted it in a more wearable manner. I did this by taking denim and a plaid button-down shirt and found a way to make it look more feminine. Since, I decided to wear a denim skirt instead of just wearing denim jeans. Along with tights and boots, I succeeded in combining both masculine and feminine clothing. In addition, I accessorized with a watch, a necklace and some rings.

Fashion is something that is ever-changing. Combine your inspiration from a runway show with inspiration from a decade, because you can contribute to this beautiful ever-changing society while still holding onto a favorite moment in time.

Get My Look: 1. A plaid shirt. 2. A denim skirt. 3. Some sheer tights. 4. A pair of tall boots.
