STYLE GURU STYLE: Lilac Sky

I’m currently obsessed with the song “Colors” by Halsey, and the line “You touched me a suddenly/I was a lilac sky.” While that lyric definitely served as inspiration for the title of this post, the majority of my inspiration came from the PAUL & JOE spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection and its use of the color lilac. To begin with, the catwalk was a gorgeous lilac color that is perfect for spring. I always associate lilac with breezy weather and clear skies, so I loved that feel that I got from this show. Look 1 is a beautiful suit that further sparked my initiative to include lilac in my outfit. I also loved the color combinations of gray with lilac, they really complement each other.

I took inspiration from both the infusion of lilac and the slouchy jeans/top look when putting together this outfit for a day of strolling around sunny Bloomington. Any day when the weather is 60 degrees in January is a happy day for me! While I chose to incorporate the lilac into my top, PAUL & JOE’s collection shows this color can be worn in many different ways.

My outfit consists of a lilac wrap bodysuit from TOBI, light wash AG jeans, gray pumps and a slouchy gray sweater for when the weather gets cooler. I chose to incorporate some of the fun patterns seen in the runway collection with the touch of a colorful bag. To balance out my accessories, I wore simple pearl earrings and my favorite silver bracelet.

Get My Look: 1. Lilac top. 2. AG jeans. 3. Gray pumps.
