STYLE GURU STYLE: Keeping it Real

When spring rolls around in Kentucky the weather forecast is always unreliable. However, one thing is for sure, flowers begin to bloom, trees blossom and the freshness of the air is unlike any other season’s. Spring brings out my most feminine side and all of a sudden I want anything floral and flirty. My favorite spring runway show has been the Alexander McQueen spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection. The contrast of high and low necklines and the stunning embroidery makes my eyes sparkle.  I saw my personal style in the pieces of this show as I have a deep love for all things detailed and patterned.

I like to shop in all kinds of stores in an effort to explore different styles and trends while also keeping true to myself. H&M is a store that is great about keeping up with trends and producing fabulous pieces at an affordable price. This floral babydoll dress has been one of my staple wardrobe items for the past month.  Its practicality and versatility makes it perfect for spring weather.  The thin fabric is breathable and the long sleeves make it appropriate for days when the breeze is a little cooler than I’d expected. As college students, we walk from class to class all day so comfortable shoes are a given.  I came across these spunky sandals and gave them a try-on. The rubber sole and leather upper on these Spanish shoes make them super comfy and reliable; I have worn them almost everyday since I’ve had them!

I see style as an important form of self expression.  My personal style varies from season to season, but I always look for pieces that are still “me.” I have a bracelet with a saying engraved into it and that saying has become my personal mantra.  Finding a mantra and sticking to it helps me stay true to myself and to be fearless.  As a lover of all things fashion a piece of jewelry is the perfect place to keep my mantra with me all the time.
