STYLE GURU STYLE: I Feel My Best In Black

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing seems to look flattering? Lately I have been having this struggle a lot. When I have a day like this, I always resort to black. Whether it’s a black jumpsuit or dress, black always seems to accentuate my curves and make me feel my best. Vera Wang’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection gives some great inspiration when I need to revive my all-black ensembles. Wang’s collection features a mix of tomboy trends and feminine fabrics including structured pants, tailored jackets, flirty dresses and dramatic jumpsuits. The combination of boyish shapes with girly pieces makes for a well rounded collection perfect for everyone’s style.

Typically, I try to spice up my wardrobe with as much color as I can in the spring, but sometimes it’s nice to go back to the basics with an all-black look. I took inspiration from this little black dress from the Vera Wang spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection and made it a little more casual for my everyday style. I paired the cotton dress with dark red leather heels and my favorite leopard cross-body bag. I also threw on some jewels to add some sparkle to my look.

I chose a sweeter and girly approach to the collection because that’s more of my personal style. I mixed in some bohemian accessories to keep my look casual yet classic. Now that the semester is coming to an end, I have less and less time to plan my outfits. As all-black outfits become more of a staple in my everyday wardrobe, I will definitely be referencing Vera Wang’s spring collection.
