STYLE GURU STYLE: I Dare To Wear

This spring semester, my fashion goal is to explore new style aesthetics. I usually stick to the color black, whether it’s with my shoe choice of color or the color of my clothes, but I want to explore with new and different patterns, pops of color, but also solids (like nude, brown, and dark green). I usually do dare with my outfits, but do you ever want to clean out all of your closet and start over? Yeah, that is me right now. I want to get closer to my true aesthetic and style of very edgy with some other characteristics like classy and chic.

In this outfit, I achieved this style of edgy meets classy and chic. I am wearing a neon orange flame patterned sweatshirt, a tied up black tank over it (or a corset belt), very black distressed and ripped jeans, and black and white high top vans. The edgy parts of this look are the very ripped jeans paired with the orange sweatshirt and vans, and the classy and chic piece is the black tied up tank (I wanted to achieve that corset type of look/style). I also wanted the outfit to not just be a sweatshirt, jeans, and sneakers look, I wanted something to make the outfit grab your attention.

It is very important for me to get dressed the way I like to express myself—without talking. I like to dress up even if I am going to school. The only leisure wear I would be wearing out would be leggings with mesh, and worn with a black long cardigan with a hood, statement sneakers, and a T-shirt (for example). Not only do I want to dare to wear with fashion and my outfits, but I also want to influence others to dare to wear whatever they want to express their true selves.
