STYLE GURU STYLE: How Do You Spell Gabbana?

Season after season, I fall head over heels for the latest Dolce&Gabbana collection. I love the eye-catching reds, golds and blacks that are usually incorporated into the looks and the Italian-chic nature of each garment. Maybe I officially began swooning over this label after the Dolce&Gabbana fall 2013 line, which featured the most gorgeously adorned red lace dresses and elaborate gold crowns and earrings. On my first trip to New York, my mom temporarily lost me in Saks Fifth Avenue because I was in the Dolce&Gabbana section, simply mesmerized by these red lace frocks I had seen on the runways.

Of course, the Dolce&Gabbana fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection was no disappointment. I absolutely loved the mother concept that was portrayed in the show. There was a pregnant woman walking the runway, as well as some models carrying their children and babies. Garment wise, I was a fan of the red rose, an element that was repeated on garments throughout the show. I thought it was romantic, whimsical and made me imagine wearing these phenomenal dresses in a romantic Italian rose garden. From long sleeve frocks to sexy, feminine black dresses, each look oozed romance and confidence. While I was once again a huge fan of the striking red and black colors, I also loved the light pink shades and subtle touches of green.

To begin my own Dolce&Gabbana-inspired look, I decided to pair a skirt and top together and stick to all-black, like in some of the collection’s looks. To capture the rose aspect of the collection, I selected my black floral midi skirt. The floral print featured touches of pale pink and green that further mimicked the line. I wanted this to be my statement piece, so I chose to wear a simple black top. While the ones worn in the collection were very classic, I decided to wear one that followed one of my favorite current trends with it’s ‘90s-inspired cut. For shoes, I slipped into a pair of strappy sandals. I kept my dark hair simple and swiped on a bit of my go-to rosy NARS lipstick for a finishing touch.

As always, I will continue to draw my style inspiration from the chic Dolce&Gabbana collections and anxiously await the day that I have one of these impeccably chic dresses hanging in my Carrie Bradshaw-esque closet.
