STYLE GURU STYLE: Fresh Faced New Year

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is quite possibly the biggest runway show talked about (at least on my campus, anyway). Tuning in to the show, I kept in mind Pantone’s new colors of the year (Rose Quartz and Serenity) and was pleased to see that the fashion show used the colors splendidly. Almost every Angel’s bra, even the Fantasy bra, used this year’s hues.

With the inspiration of new bras and new hues, I strutted into MAC. The first thing I saw when I walked in was that they were debuting a new line called Faerie Whispers. Being the girl I am, I have always wanted to be a fairy, so seeing that my favorite makeup company had this line made me so happy. Another thing that caught my eye was that the new colors for Pantone and Victoria’s Secret were also the new colors that MAC was using in this collection.

The look I’m wearing really showcases these new colors. On the inner corner to the middle of the lid and leading up to the crease of my eye is Feminine Wiles, a new foiled shadow from the Faerie Whispers line, which incorporates the Rose Quartz color. I just adore foiled shadows—they add a bit of glitter without being too gaudy. From the middle of the lid to the outer corner is a pale blue-green color, blending in Serenity with a little bit of sea foam green to complement my gray eyes. To blend the colors together, I used Sweet Illusion, another foiled shadow. This one has more of a cream color, perfect for blending without taking away from the other eye shadows.

I decided something a little softer would be perfect for liner, so on my lower lid waterline I used a cream to widen my eyes, and give them a more Bambi-like look. I also used a little of the pale blue-green eye shadow to widen the bottom by applying it right in the center of my lower lash line. I then took an eyeliner in Grey Utility and lined the bottom, drawing emphasis to the tear ducts by adding a reverse cat eye. For my lip, I stayed true to my nude colors and used a new lipstick from the Faerie Whispers line called Midsummer Night. To finish the look, I used a Cremesheen Glass lip glass in Softly Lit.

Get My Look: 1. A pale pink eye shadow. 2. A soft gray eyeliner. 3. A nude lipstick.
