STYLE GURU STYLE: Flattering Florals

The recent alice + olivia runway show highlighted the use of patterns. Specifically, bold patterns that stand out with dynamic designs were common themes amongst the clothing. Throughout the line, the focus on the fabric played into an earlier bohemian time period with a floral feel, while still remaining structured and tasteful. One of the greatest aspects of patterns is that they are all unique and different. The mixture of colors, textures and flowers  create patterns that are innovative and intriguing, each standing out from one another. This provides Fashionistas with a plethora of options, allowing them to rock the most recent runway trend in their own way, applying it to their specific style.

This runway trend is one that has inspired me to incorporate more floral into my wardrobe. The shorts that I am wearing work as the centerpiece of the outfit, grabbing the attention for the ensemble. Their high-waisted, structured feel, paired with their free-flowing nature, make the shorts comfortable and extremely flattering at the waistline. These shorts can be matched with a number of different tops, whether it is a tight tank top, a loose crop top or a cropped sweater. For an everyday occasion, I chose to pair it with a loose cropped T-shirt. The loose nature of the shirt is a nice contrast from the fitted high waist, ultimately making the outfit more casual for an everyday feel, while still accentuating the flirty and fun floral pattern. Additionally, the soft beige color makes the shorts pop, further emphasizing their detail. To finish my everyday play on alice + olivia’s line, I wore a simple pair of white Converse, characteristic of my own style.

This fall 2015 ready-to-wear line emphasized the beauty and consideration in patterns and interesting designs. Alice + olivia’s detail-oriented patterns stole the show with their combination of structure and flow. The dynamic of this line allows for the main ideas and inspirations to be perfectly transferable into everyday wear for all Fashionistas.
