STYLE GURU STYLE: Feeling Gray

Marc Jacobs’ fall 2015 ready-to-wear line is filled with deep blues and grays. Above all, the length of the jackets and dresses are refreshing and, ultimately, vintage takes on the brand’s new line. With dark lipsticks and porcelain skin, the models flowed down the runway with grace and sophistication. Cool furs and interesting prints took over the outfits and made every single look enviable.

In an effort to channel some of these characteristics, I dove into my closet for my long feather gray jacket. Light as can be and filled with endless movement, it was a very happy choice. The new spring air is still a bit crisp, so I went for a sleeveless cream knit parka beneath. I love the simplicity of the look.

In an effort to bring a wow factor, I grabbed my cerulean blue suede heels. Though they aren’t ideal for every type of weather, they did just the trick on the gray day. I felt that I blended in with the weather, and it was the perfect mix of fashion and minimalism. My hair felt just right loosely pulled up. Though my initial instinct was to go for a dark lip, I decided at the last minute to keep it muted. There’s something about the washed out look that accompanies gray in an impeccable way.

All in all, I was thrilled with this look. I felt very chic for the dreary weather. The movement and length of the coat had me feeling long and lean all day. The knit added the ideal level of warmth without leaving me overheated. The heels brought the right amount of pop. It was a good day.

Get My Look: 1. A long gray jacket. 2. A simple sleeveless knit. 3. A pair of vibrant heels.
