Some mornings I wake up and dread the daunting task of putting in my contacts. Who could blame me? Without fail, I always manage to get something in my eye that won’t come out no matter how many times I squirt some saline up in there. Then, when that doesn’t work, I’m left taking out the contact, washing it and starting the whole process over. Why can’t I just wear my glasses and feel just as confident as I do with contacts? Maybe I just need the right outfit to boost my ego and turn my glasses from a fashion don’t to a fashion do.
Alexandre Vauthier gave me the motivation to wear my glasses out in public when he sent some of his models down the spring 2016 couture collection runway with them. In one of his runway looks, a model wore her glasses with a black turtleneck dress, a black coat with gold buttons and tall black boots.
To emulate this look, naturally, I wore my glasses. I grabbed a black high neck tank top from my closet and paired it with some ripped jeans. Ripped jeans are all the rage on the streets this spring, and I wear them whenever I can; I love them! I put on a loose, baggy cardigan to mock the model’s black coat. It’s getting way too nice out to go back to coat season! I matched the tall black boots that Alexandre Vauthier used in many of his looks on the runway with a pair of my own high-heeled boots. To bring in that pop of gold from the model’s coat buttons, I wore a gold chain necklace and a gold watch.
