STYLE GURU STYLE: Falling for Simple Silhouettes

Fall semester is my favorite part of the school year. First of all because it is football season and second of all the weather is perfect in the fall, not too hot and not too cold. But sadly, in Italy, neither of those things are true. Here they watch futbol and the weather is in the 80s and 90s almost all the way through October. If you are lucky it might cool down to the 70s every once in a while. And then it gets rainy and is in the 60s and 70s from November until March. So they do not have any beautiful fall weather. Which means no colorful fall leaves or cozy sweaters. But I cannot complain too much as the coffee here is beyond amazing.

Being here in Italy, my style has been changing and I have started to wear more dresses and skirts. I am becoming a bit more minimalist, but not completely. I still want to give myself some room to have some fun. I have really been loving stripes and deeper tones for just a more basic and clean look. The Christian Siriano spring/summer 2017 ready-to wear has really caught my eye this season. I really loved how he played with stripes and silhouettes in such a simple way this season. One of my favorite things about this collection are the large prints he mixed in; it adds such a great element of fun to everything. All the different colors and silhouettes just make everything seem so much more emphasized.

I loved bringing this into my own style with some classic and simple pieces. I grabbed one of my favorite black sheath dresses that has such a simple silhouette. I paired it with this multi-colored beaded necklace to bring in some bright colors without being too overwhelming. To finish it off added some camel espadrilles to just give everything a fun summer flair and now I am ready to hit the streets of Florence!
