STYLE GURU STYLE: Down To Earth Faux Fur

While scrolling through numerous fashion shows for the fall 2015 ready-to-wear season, the Louis Vuitton retro-inspired collection immediately caught my eye with its stunning entrance. Models who wore these over-the-top, faux fur coats came swooping in on the runway, channeling a clash of vibes from the ’70s along with the technology of the modern era. If faux fur did not cover these models in an extravagant manner, it was used as a neck trim for the more sleek and modern outerwear pieces.

I caught a fever from the faux fur craze and thought the trend would be perfect to use as my inspiration for the transitioning seasons. Instead of throwing on a coat overwhelmed by fur, I went for a more down-to-earth military green jacket with fur trim. My goal isn’t to grab the public’s attention whenever I walk on campus; I just want to dress simply and comfortably, and with the subtle fur details, I am able to dress stylishly, as well.

While the Louis Vuitton collection may be perfect for a throwback, I wanted to create a look that could be worn now. To do this, I kept it simple and catered to my laid-back, edgy side. I threw on a few of my current favorite basic items—a crop top and a pair of high-waisted jeans. For this modern look, I grounded the whole outfit with a well-fitting hat and some cutting edge leather ankle boots. What’s great about my outfit is that it’s perfect for many casual occasions during the colder fall and winter months.
