April showers are inevitable, but the end result is always rewarding as May blooms into full effect. Thankfully, Mother Nature grants us a few sunny days every now and then, so this leaves us with no excuse but to take advantage of them. I decided to take the opportunity on this radiant Saturday morning by bringing out the basics—but also adding a little extra something.
Instead of just going for a plain white T-shirt, I paired it with a lace cami from Brandy Melville. The runways of Chanel and Valentino spring 2017 ready-to-wear collections taught us that the timelessly feminine trend reminiscent on lingerie isn’t going anywhere soon. Whether it’s through gentle underpinnings of slips or layering over your favorite shirts, you can’t go wrong with a little juxtaposition of lace and satin.
To continue on with the look, I wore a pair of ripped jeans from Topshop. Of course, I didn’t forget to put on my nameplate necklace that I wear almost on the daily. Adding simple, elegant jewelry pieces to your collection like this one can be helpful for when you want to add that subtle touch of glam.
Statement shoes can be a unique way to pull an outfit together, and, in this case, all the stars are aligned with these cosmic suede ankle booties I got from Public Desire. I love this pair because you don’t have to stick to just wearing them out at night—they let you bring the party into the day time! Staple black boots are a must in every closet, but these can be a nice change too, whether you decide to get them in floral prints, metallics, or a mélange of other fun patterns.
With the warmer season charging forward to kick out the cold, inspiration is back and better than ever, and what better way to unleash your creativity than during a time like this? Climate really can alter your mood, and for me, the transition between spring and summer often means ambitious attempts at experimenting with bolder hues, bolder patterns, and bolder silhouettes.
So, try on those flared trousers, that embroidered jacket, or those tassel earrings that you’ve been eyeing for so long! Worst case scenario is that you don’t end up loving it, but that tiny bluff gets cancelled out by the one greatest fact about fashion—you get to try again with a fresh new outfit in the morning!
