STYLE GURU STYLE: Confidence is Key

I believe that confidence is a must as a Fashionista or Fashionisto. I always found that I was most confident in a pair of jeans and a plain T-shirt, but as I have gotten older, I have found that expanding my fashion range has really helped my confidence and helped me express my personality.

When I was growing up, I always found myself playing in the dirt and roughing around in different sports. Because of this, I found it was easiest to wear outfits that fit my activities. In middle school, one of my favorite shoes to wear were my black Converse with any outfit I owned. As I grew into my high school fashion, I found that I enjoyed a more feminine style. Wearing different summer dresses and skirts gave me a sense of confidence and helped me through high school and into college.

When looking at different runway styles, I have found that Oscar de la Renta has inspired me with confident, yet subtle attire. Peter Copping’s new resort collection features sunshine in your step. I feel most confident when I am happy and can feel the sun shining on my face. That is why this floral look inspired me to rock the simple, but chic floral skirt ensemble.

As a senior at a university, I have found that I have a mix of feminine and tomboyish style. I still enjoy wearing a simple pair of jeans and simple top, but always love to add a splash of color or a special accessory. For my outfit, I decided to pair a simple black tank top with light white dots with a high-waisted flower skirt. To add a flare of my personality, I decided to pair my outfit with my favorite shoes, my high-top Converse. Although my style has evolved over the years, I have found that with each step I have gained new confidence and have been able to discover what my personal style is.
