STYLE GURU STYLE: Coffee And Cardigans

Here in Seattle, the chic hipster cafe game is strong. Heading out to a cafe to study or chat with a friend is a go-to hangout option. Because the weather is so unpredictable here and inside temperatures tend to vary, it is extremely crucial to dress in layers. Anyone in Seattle will attest to the simple fact that layering is key in the Pacific Northwest. This is why when I structured this look after Alexander Wang’s spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I added a few more layers to this multi-level look. His collection is largely inspired by strappy tank tops and halter tops that are intricately cut to reveal more shoulder action which I have been absolutely loving for these increasingly warmer temperatures.

My outfit today strives for exactly just that. I layered my ultra warm and cozy fringed sweater cardigan on top of a ribbed-knit tank top. This way, I’m covered up enough to block out any spring chills yet I still have a cooler option if the temperatures start to rise. To go along with the fringe theme, I wore a fringed silver necklace for a little embellishment. I paired this with a pair of high-waisted burgundy jeans from Topshop for a pop of color. With the weather finally at temperatures where it’s sane enough to wear sandals, I finally got the chance to break out these rad black platform sandals I recently bought.

This is an ideal outfit if you’re headed out to a coffeeshop with a friend on a beautiful, spring day. Just remember, especially if you’ve got some strappy, revealing pieces but want to balance it out more, it’s all about the layers, especially if you’re going to be moving around from outdoors to indoors. Of course, the comfiness factor is also a must to go along with those cozy coffee shop vibes. It’s also preferable to stay away from lighter-colored clothing so you can avoid any unexpected spillage stains. Put it all together, and you’ve got yourself a casual and snug outfit for your coffee shop outing!
