STYLE GURU STYLE: Boots Were Made for Walking

My belief in always having a pair of black boots in my closet during the fall and winter seasons developed well after the days of having to match each of my siblings during every/any social outing, and thinking wearing a striped T-shirt with a checkered skirt was the coolest combination of all time. I remember always joking around while singing the tune, “these boots were made for walking, and that’s just what they’ll do…” whenever I wore them.

Over the years, my fashion sense has definitely matured, and I’ve grown to realize that a good pair of black knee-high boots are capable of much more than walking. In a fashion reality, their possibilities are endless, and arguably one of the most versatile types of shoes. Throwing them on my feet on my way out the door is so easy and requires little to no thought, yet seems to complete the look I am going for each time. A simple statement, in my opinion, is just as powerful as a bold one when it comes to fashion!

I’ve also come to understand that it’s extremely important to utilize the clothes, accessories, shoes, and any other pieces in your closet. I try to avoid splurging on items that I know I will not get a lot of use out of. There are trends that come and go before a season is even over, so being aware of “usefulness” has suppressed many urges to shop (when its unnecessary for me to) while i’m away at school. These boots, however, (Stuart Weitzman 50/50s) have carried me a long way. Amongst this option, over-the-knee boots that are extremely similar are sold and available all over!

I feel that with a pair of boots like these, someone is able to plan out a casual daytime outfit, just as easily as one that’s perfect for a night out on the town. For daytime, try wearing them with a swing dress, jeans, and your favorite casual top, or a long sleeve top under an overall dress. As for a nighttime outfit, some looks I’ve loved have been to wear them with leather leggings (and an in-numeral amount of top options), a bodycon dress, or any evening dress!

To spice these options up, add a fun jacket or hat. Here, while exploring NYC for the day, I decided to put on a warm jean jacket lined with faux fur and a super cute pom-pom hat from Topshop that I am completely obsessing over lately!

I am confident that there’s a long future ahead of us, my boots and I, and I’m excited to try out new looks!
