STYLE GURU STYLE: Bold Striped Maxi

When it comes to being bold, colorful and chic, Tory Burch is always a designer that comes to mind. The fall 2016 ready-to-wear collection was unlike any other. This collection is bold, colorful and charming. Her pieces incorporated a wider color palette than usual; all while maintaining a sophisticated and tailored look. Menswear has been huge for women and this collection did a great job incorporating this trend on the runway. In this collection, you see bold colored and printed maxi dresses, long peacoats sweeping the floor, tailored pants and a lot of matching pant suits that are to die for.

One thing that I love about Wayne State is all of the cool locations that are nearby to shoot at. Over the duration of this internship, I’ve explored and found some really cool places! When I saw this ribbed knit maxi dress, my mind instantly went to Tory Burch and the excellent bold color-blocking details that were on many of her pieces this season and I was drawn to it. I absolutely love the neutral gray color with the bold colored stripes, it really allows the dress to pop. I love the whole menswear-inspired theme that Tory incorporated on the runway this season. Feeling inspired by this theme, I tried to incorporate it in my own way into this look. I personally have fallen in love with the whole sneaker trend because it is so versatile. Pairing a pair of sneakers with a ribbed knit dress is a comfortable look to sport while running around on campus from class to class.

Due to the fact that the lovely Michigan weather likes to play tricks on us; just to keep warm, I threw on my leather jacket over this dress. Jackets are an essential in my wardrobe simply because you just can’t go wrong and the options are limitless. Every college girl should have a leather jacket in their wardrobe because it is a staple and you can never go wrong! For an extra pop of color and just to spice the look up, I added this red cocktail ring to my look. I think that this ring gave this look the extra sparkle and color that it needed. Whenever I have a look that is more simplified, I always try to add an accessory of some sort just to give it the extra piece that it was missing weather its a belt, a handbag, a ring or a necklace; designers like Tory Burch have taught me that good accessories never fail!

Get My Look: 1. Ribbed maxi. 2. Sneakers. 3. Cocktail ring. 4. Leather jacket.
