STYLE GURU STYLE: Basics Or Bust

Here in Kent, Ohio, the seasons have started to change and the temperatures have begun to climb. I have slowly but surely started my transition from winter to spring. During this process, I often find myself browsing Instagram, Pinterest and Vogue for spring inspiration. When I came across the ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection, I was immediately attracted to it.

This collection is filled with two of my favorite things: neutrals and basics. Both of these qualities allow for an incredibly versatile closet. This is especially important for me because I am preparing to study abroad next semester, and any Fashionista can tell you that fitting your life into one suitcase and a carry on seems next to impossible. Lately, I have been trying to gather pieces that I can mix and match to the extreme. The ATM Anthony Thomas Melillo collection showcases just that. His collection features whites, taupes, grays, blacks and a few subtle blues and pinks. There is also a nice balance of knit and woven pieces featured throughout.

I had the perfect starting point for this look. I recently purchased a basic gray T-shirt dress, which was perfect for what I was going for. I wanted to keep the look simple, so I threw on my drapey anorak jacket. I love this piece because it is a fun variation from the classic green military jacket. To finish off the look, I added a chunky pendant necklace and my pointed flats. Overall, I was very pleased with how this ensemble turned out.

Get My Look: 1. Neutral T-shirt dress. 2. Bold pendant. 3. Pointed flats.
