STYLE GURU STYLE: Back To Black

I rarely find a full ready-to-wear collection that I am obsessed with from the opening model to the closing girl. But when a designer says, “Our customers want all-black, so why not do an all-black collection?” I know I’m going to be a fan. When Alexander Wang debuted his fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I started tearing through my closet searching for my best head to toe look in black.

All-black can tend to look flat on the runway, but Wang didn’t let that stop him from delivering a breathtaking show. He experimented with different fabrics and materials to bring the dark looks to life. Many of the looks were injected with hard wear to give the outfits more depth. Wang lined many of the looks with metal chains, and he even snuck in a few chain mail dresses to give the collection an even more punk vibe. To top off the gothic looks, the models donned thick-soled Frankenstein boots and slicked back hair.

I drew inspiration from the different chain mail dresses Wang added to the collection. I, however, kept the look PG by wearing a black tank dress with a mesh overlay skirt. I threw on my black moto jacket with leather details and gold hard wear to add to the punk vibe. On my feet, I wore a pair of black heeled ankle boots. I topped off my outfit with a black felt fedora, a black leather backpack and a red lip.

I think this outfit is not only easy to create, but it is also easy to pull off. Everyone owns black clothing, and everyone looks good in black. Best of all, you don’t need to worry about finding pieces that match because they’re all one shade.

Get My Look: 1. A black moto jacket. 2. A black wool hat. 3. The perfect red lip.
