STYLE GURU STYLE: Back to Basics

Hello, friends! The end of the semester is rolling in quite quickly and as we are busy bees, putting together an outfit might not be an option in the morning. This is when we look to our basic pieces for help!

Who doesn’t love basics? Simple, minimalistic pieces can never be a wrong decision. You can make the pieces work and interchange them with other staple items to create a new outfit. I love minimalistic and basic styles because they create smart, chic and simple looks that are easy to change when mixing other basic pieces. Browsing through high fashion runway looks, I came across the rag & bone spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection. I’ve always been a huge rag & bone fan and instantly fell in love with their new spring collection. I love the use of the neutral blacks and whites. The looks were styled with different kinds of sneakers and sandals and all the outfits could be easily transformed into a new one with a quick change of shoes.

For this look, I am wearing a basic black shift dress that is comfortable to wear all day. I had a huge presentation at school and needed to dress business casual. I wore this black shift dress with a blazer and heels. Afterwards, for a dinner date, I quickly swapped my heels for my chunky black booties and the blazer for a creme cardigan and just like that, I was embracing a whole new style and look. I was able to keep my accessories the same. I wore three simple and dainty gold necklaces and my basic Daniel Wellington watch.

Get My Look: 1. Black shift dress. 2. Long cardigan. 3. Chunky booties.
