STYLE GURU STYLE: Back To Basics

Everyone needs to have a few pieces in their wardrobe that they can wear anywhere dressed up or down. That’s exactly what this outfit is for me; this outfit is pretty casual, but each piece can be dressed up for dinner or a night with friends.

Altuzarra showed easy basics for their spring 2015 show in a fresh, new way. Pants were high-waisted and knee-length dresses were belted at the waist. Black, white and brown seemed to be the colors of choice, keeping with the basic theme of the entire show. All of these Altuzarra looks are wearable and perfect examples for looking chic with only a few basics.

I recently bought these high-waisted jeans thinking that they would wear them a lot, but I didn’t realize that they would become such a staple so quickly. They’re the perfect basic piece because of how versatile they are. These jeans are great with an oversized blazer, or with a vintage band T-shirt. Not only do they look great, they’re also so insanely comfortable. Jeggings are the way to go when you’ve got a long day ahead of you.

Plain white T-shirts are something that everyone needs in their closet. Like high-waisted jeans, simple T-shirts are extremely versatile. I like finding plain, simple shirts that have just enough detail to keep it interesting. The one I’m wearing has a mesh yoke that makes it a little more interesting than just a plain white sleeveless top.

My roommate at Kent has a pair of mules that I always borrowed, so when classes were over and we moved out I had to get my own pair. I found these gems at Nordstrom Rack and I’m so happy I spent the money on them. These are perfect with jeans or with a dress to go out to dinner. They’re pretty comfortable too; the wide band provides tons of support so they don’t kill your feet if you have to wear them all day.

Get My Look: 1. High-waisted jeans. 2. An easy white shirt. 3. The perfect mules.
