STYLE GURU STYLE: Baby You’re So Classic

A jean jacket, stripes, a bright red lip and a wide brim hat are staples in my wardrobe. Combining them all together in one outfit basically equals my fashion heaven. While it is nice to be trendy once and a while, I absolutely love sticking to classic pieces.

Taking inspiration from the Zac Posen spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection, I combined classic and alluring pieces, which is exactly what Posen was going for in his collection. I also stuck (mostly) to the same color palette he used of white, black and red. I combined this inspiration with the casualness in the Madewell fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection, which included many looks with denim pieces and had an overall street style outfit feel.

Classic pieces can always be reinvented. In this outfit, which consists of almost all classic pieces, my goal was to make it look different and unique somehow. To achieve this idea, I mixed different textures to create a visually interesting outfit. Jean, cotton, wool and suede all counterbalance each other.

My outfit includes a striped Old Navy T-shirt tucked into a black high-waisted mini skirt. To add to the look, I wore a jean jacket, wide brim wool hat and suede ankle strap sandals to dress the look up. I added a pop of color with MAC’s Ruby Woo lipstick.

Stripes, jeans and ankle strap heels will never go out of style, but to add a bit of trendiness to the look I sported the wool hat, which can be fund at almost any clothing store today. These pieces come together to create a chic, standout look that I love to wear when I want to feel girly, but alluring at the same time.

Get My Look: 1. Any striped T-shirt. 2. A classic jean jacket. 3. Ankle strap heels.
