STYLE GURU STYLE: Athleisure

You have heard about it on countless fashion blogs and whether you like it or not, it is here to stay. Athleisure is the trend ruling everyone’s closets, even for those like me who do not frequent the gym (because I would rather be reading CollegeFashionista on my bed than running a treadmill).

Tommy Hilfiger’s fall 2015 ready-to-wear runway show was a perfect example of athleisure on the designer side. The show was as preppy as usual; however, the runway was given a more athletic touch by being made into a football field. With a great fall color palette featuring wine, mustard, navy and whites, the show exhibited some really great pieces, while still sticking to the true Tommy Hilfiger brand.

Sticking to the true athleisure trend (which every college student has probably adopted by this point in the semester), I decided to wear one of my most favorite (and most comfortable) pieces in my closet: my navy sweatpants. I originally bought them because of their interesting twist on the pockets, featuring a fun plaid detail, but have grown to love them because of their tapered bottom and again, how comfy they are! I took the color inspiration for my outfit from Tommy Hilfiger’s show and tried to incorporate his muted pieces mixed with small pops of color. While mixing a gray top and navy bottom, I added my pop of color where I usually do: in my shoes, featuring some casual orange sneakers.

Athleisure is a fun trend that should not be taken too seriously. It is time for you to take those clothes out of your gym bag/locker and out into the real world.

Get My Look: 1. Comfortable sweatpants. 2. Fun sneakers. 3. Simple baseball T-shirt.
