STYLE GURU STYLE: Army

One designer brand that never ceases to amaze me is Balmain. In my eyes, this brand has really become influential in celebrity fashion in the past two years. Everyone is familiar with the intense Kim Kardashian and Kanye West campaign that has swept the nation in fashion magazines and online. Balmain is most recently known for the army-inspired rugged collection from the fall 2014 ready-to-wear runway. This trend includes many hues of green, navy, brown and black. The brand also shows of bright orange and primary colors. The trend is infused with touches of animal prints and lots of woven leather detailing and fur tops and jackets. Olivier Rousteing’s vision is very inspiring to me and my individual style.

The chic looks on the runway are more extreme than my look. I am very inspired by this runway show and try to pull it off in my outfits when I feel like looking cool and military punk. For my personal style, I chose one of my favorite tops in my wardrobe: my army green button-up silk blouse. I complement this classic top with a black faux leather bomber jacket with dark metal zippers and buttons. I am also very intrigued with the mixed metals trend this winter season. The gold buttons on my blouse and gray metal on my jacket and pants pair nicely together.

I complete this Balmain-inspired outfit with gray skinny jeans with stitch detailing. The stitching provides just one more edgy aspect to my outfit. One of my favorite parts of my look is my gold leather high-top sneakers. The shoes worn on the Balmain runway are mostly heeled booties with gold accents and woven leather. For class, I decided that these sneakers were a comfortable choice but still helped to really embrace the Balmain trend.

Get My Look: 1. An army green colored sweater, blouse or shirt. 2. A cool leather jacket. 3. An gold heeled shoe.
