STYLE GURU STYLE: An Off-The-Shoulder Look Right Off the Runway

School is out and summer is approaching, so what better way to stay cool and cute than by wearing the off-the-shoulder trend? Having your shoulders exposed has such a feminine and classy way about it, and it’s so easy to wear casually or dressed up. I found inspiration for this look from the Paul & Joe spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection which consisted of vibrant tropical patterns, metallic street style attire and gorgeous off-the-shoulder ensembles.

To create this look, I wore one of my favorite spring purchases: a light blue off-the-shoulder crop top from Urban Outfitters. I combined this piece with a pair of Blank NYC white denim cut-off shorts and gray Converse to create a casual look. The ready-to-wear collection that Paul & Joe released for spring 2016 was beachy but also had a high fashion, street style vibe. I tried to combine these aspects by using the off-the-shoulder trend that they exhibited throughout their collection, while pairing it with casual beachy shorts and gray Converse to resemble the metallic sneakers worn in a few of their looks.

Because this trend accentuates your shoulders and collarbone, I decided not to wear a necklace and instead chose to accessorize by loading up my wrists with my Alex and Ani bracelets, a Bourbon and Boweties bangle, a Pura Vida beaded bracelet and my gold kate spade watch. I finished my accessories off with a pair of Moon and Lola gold hoops and a small black drawstring backpack that I got from Abercrombie & Fitch. To add to the natural essence of this look, I lined my lips with the nude colored NARS Velvet Matte lip pencil in Bettina and then filled my lips in with the new Burt’s Bee’s lipstick in Suede Splash. All of these pieces come together to create an effortless look that accentuates the shoulders as a feminine and alluring feature, making it easy to wear this look for a day at school or a fun night out with the girls.
