STYLE GURU STYLE: All-Black Everything

Sometimes I look back at outfits I’ve worn in the past and can’t help but cringe. It’s true that personal style is always evolving, and it’s definitely important to remember that, but sometimes all I can do when I look at an outfit I used to  love is think, “Really, Olivia? Really?” I know that I’ll probably have that moment in regards to my fashion choices throughout my life, but as I get older, I’ve become much more aware of certain ways I can make my outfits’ stylishness last. Step one? Wear all-black. Don’t believe me? Just look at Alexander McQueen‘s fall 2015 ready-to-wear show.

Not only is wearing head to toe black incredibly flattering, but it also gives you an instant clean slate to build the outfit up with accessories and interesting details. I wore this outfit to a simple day around my hometown, running errands, shooting photos and grabbing coffee, of course. I needed something simple and comfortable, but still chic, and this look was ideal. Add some easy sneakers and your go-to bag for the day and you’re ready to take on the world.

If all-black is too much for you, don’t be afraid to add some white and gray into the mix. Neutrals are my go-to palette lately, and surprisingly, the less colors I use, the more chic I feel. The best part? I know in a year I won’t look back at these outfits and be totally confused. Well, for the most part, anyway.

Get My Look: 1. Black jeans with busted knees. 2. Oversized black T-shirt. 3. Burgundy cross-body purse.
