STYLE GURU STYLE: All About That Lace

No stranger to romanticism, Elie Saab hit the nail on the head with a contemporary twist on his signature feminine style. Elie Saab is typically known for elegant red carpet gowns, but his spring 2016 ready-to-wear collection made the pieces more versatile.

Now I have a major soft spot for anything Elie Saab, being that he is my all-time favorite designer. So when I saw this collection, I died. I may be hyperbolizing by reaction, but I absolutely fell in love with his mix of quintessential lacy dresses and surprising striped and floral prints.

Taking example from the collection, I put together my white lace kimono and mini skirt. An abundance of lace is absolutely necessary for any Elie Saab-inspired look. Lace mini dresses, jumpsuits and blouses flooded the runway this spring. Especially with the warm May weather, I think lace is the perfect lightweight and feminine material. The collection had a variation of colors in lace, but I felt white stood out the most on the runway.

Next, I incorporated a striped top to emulate the contemporary patterns seen in Elie Saab’s show. I tried to recreate the juxtaposition of bold stripes against whimsical lacy pieces. A higher neckline also showed up frequently in the collection, so I found this top to perfectly fit the bill.

In regards to footwear, the collection featured strappy sandals. I particularly loved the lace-up black sandals. The more lace in an outfit the merrier, right? I found shoes similar to those on the runway and I absolutely adored them for their versatility, comfort and look. The shoes perfectly tied together the updated Elie Saab look.
