STYLE GURU STYLE: A Paris Summer

My Miami style sensibilities take over as soon as March rolls around. I start feeling the need to exchange my stuffy sweaters and thick pants for an outfit more appropriate for frolicking in the summer. The obvious response to no more snow is to go for pieces that dance in the wind and show off the flowers about to bloom. The latest spring 2015 ready-to-wear collection by Chloé offers the perfect source of inspiration for a look fit for the streets of Paris under the summer sun. From lace to the perfect shade of toffee, this collection’s urban take on the house’s typical airy aesthetic is perfect for a weekend look.

This dress from Free People is a perfect stand alone piece with the balloon sleeves that balance the short length of the dress. Dresses are always my go-to for classes or weekend errands since I can just throw them on and head out the door. With the influx of ’70s inspiration from films and runway shows, my outfits this spring have been full of muted brown and mauve tones. This floral spring dress pairs perfectly with brown leather accessories like this cross-body satchel and ankle booties. Once the weather warms up and I’m off campus, I’d style this look with a pair of high, buckled gladiator sandals.

One of my favorite trends of the runway was the simple and low-maintenance beauty look. I kept my makeup very simple with just some matte nude lipstick and a blood red cheek stain. As for hair, I replicated the models middle part and straight hair. All that’s missing is a ticket to Paris to complete the feeling of this collection.

Get My Look: 1. Floral, flowy dress. 2. Cross-body satchel. 3. Ankle booties.
