STYLE GURU STYLE: A Classic Twist

The color palette of a look is one of the most important parts of an outfit. Luckily, various hues and color palettes work well during the fall. This is the time when Fashionistas everywhere start to break out their darker tones such as burgundy and emeralds. These are notoriously mixed with rich browns and grays and usually determines if an outfit is fall material. Michael Kors definitely knew this when he released his fall 2015 ready-to-wear collection.

Most of the looks in this collection are monochromatic, with pieces that also have a hint or burgundy or red. He mixed in more classic tweed and accessories such as leather bags and boots to complete his models. I took an instant liking to this collection, mostly based on the colors that were used. Besides the colors of the looks, they are very classic which I have a soft spot for.

I started off my look by layering two burgundy pieces. The soft element of this sweater and the structure of this top really work well together. The two similar, but not quite the same, tones keep my look monochromatic just as the fashion gods have intended. I then added some high-rise jeans to keep the look casual.

As a nod to Kors color palette, I added some deep brown booties (which make me feel like Harry Styles but in a good way) and a tan bell hat. By adding the bell hat, I gave this outfit the classic touch it needed. Plus, hats are the best for when you really do not feel like doing or washing your hair. My favorite necklace, rose gold watch and Alex and Ani bracelets completed this outfit.

Get My Look: 1. Burgundy top. 2. Bell hat. 3. Dark Skinny jeans. 4.Brown boots.
