STYLE GURU STYLE: ’70s Queen

As the spring season is beginning to bloom it is time to channel your inner flower child. One of the hottest trends this spring is the high-wasted flare jean. Throwing on these pair of jeans to spice up any outfit is an option every Fashionista should have. Along with a pair of high-wasted flare jeans, heeled booties and a headscarf are going to be wardrobe staples this spring. All of these pieces can be worn for various occasions and throughout the year. For this look, I was able to create a ’70s-inspired outfit by incorporating flared denim with playful ruffles and the addition of bohemian influenced accessories.

Taking inspiration from the Fendi fall 2016 ready-to-wear runway show, I combined the playful ruffles Karl Lagerfeld demonstrated in the ready-to-wear show. The dull colored ruffles complements the vibrant accessories. The flared denim gave a sense of vintage elements. I combined the looks seen in the Fendi collection, with a more ’70s aura including the headscarf and suede booties.

Flared jeans are a current trend that throughout the years keeps coming back again and again. In this outfit, my goal was to create a more contemporary look by adding a touch of feminine elements. To achieve this idea, I first paired the jeans with the ruffled top but then added on the studded belt, headscarf and leather necklace to create a free spirit vibe. The finishing piece was adding the suede booties to help elongate my legs in the denim as well as make for a casual ’70s look.

The ruffle off-the-shoulder top and the flared jeans are closet staples but by adding the bohemian accessories, I was able to make a hippie-chic look perfect for a day of adventures with friends of the music festival season coming up.
