Hey Fashionistas! I’m in my final semester as a communications and film student at the University of Calgary in Canada. Once I’m finished, I’m hoping to earn my masters in fashion and live out my childhood dream of working in the industry, particularly focusing on sustainability and ethical fashion. I am also excited to be starting my first semester as a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and hope to introduce you all to the way we do things up north, particularly looking stylish in any type of weather!

I could never define my style in just a few words, and every day I throw together a completely different look depending on my mood, which I think is super important in developing your own personal style. If I followed any particular fashion rules, I would say that they would be to fill your wardrobe with basics, and add detail in texture and accessories. I love to keep my closet full of basic neutrals that can go together in a million different ways so that I have endless outfit options that fit all sorts of different moods. I’m also obsessed with textures and feel like they add so much more to any outfit. Whether a fabric is crushed velvet, sheer, or denim, I believe these small details can add so much to any outfit, and fabric texture is guaranteed to make your look like a chic Fashionista.

My biggest fashion weakness is absolutely jackets, and I’m always buying new ones. I love them because you can toss any jacket on top of any outfit and it really changes the whole feel of it. Plus they’re a super easy way to outfit repeat. As someone who lives in a pretty varied climate, jackets are key in styling any look.

I absolutely love layering when I put outfits together, whether it’s a T-shirt under a slip dress or a long top over ripped denim like I’ve done here! While my top is actually a dress I purchased in Hawaii, I love the idea of unbuttoning the bottom half and wearing it open as a layered top! This jacket adds a fun and interesting texture, and its tie works with the menswear style of my top. I also chose my favorite patent loafers for the same reason, and  I love how they make any of my outfits look so put together. I opted for ripped denim to dress my look down because I do still like to look a tiny bit casual.

I hope you all love this layered look, and I can’t wait to keep sharing new ones with you all in the future. Be sure to follow my Instagram to keep up with my posts, and I can’t wait for an amazing final semester!
