STYLE GURU BIO: Vasiliki Bitsas

Hi fellow fashion lovers! I’m Vasiliki and living in the good ‘ole city of Erie, Pennsylvania attending Mercyhurst University. For someone who is not the biggest fan of snow, you might ask why I would live in the snowiest city in the nation? Well, I visited a lot of schools when I was looking at universities and sadly, nothing caught my attention, (except some of the boys who I saw). When I pulled through the gates here, I fell in love. And that’s the story of how the Hurst became my home.

So, you’re probably not interested in how I got to where I am, but a year and a half ago, the thought of being in the fashion industry didn’t even cross my mind. I thought I wanted to be a nurse; that was not for me. I knew that I loved fashion, and I was fascinated by how the industry runs, not to mention I love to sew. After that, my mind was made up. I knew that was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Plus, who wants to rock a pair of Reeboks and scrubs forever? Not this girl! I dream of the day I’ll be strutting around in my pumps and doing what I love.

Fashion is about being yourself and breaking the rules. Heck, if you want to wear a brown and black or even navy and black, do you! If you feel like that shirt would look and feel more comfortable, go braless. If there were such a thing, I would be considered the poster child for the saying, “braless and flawless” or so I like to think. It is a way of expressing who you are, and whoever you decide to be that day—be that person. My style emulates all the aspects of my personality with a hint of red lipstick.

But remember, when it comes to fashion the phrase “do you” is always in style.
