STYLE GURU BIO: Tori Lin

September 4th, 2015 at 2:00am

Hello! My name is Tori Lin, and I am a junior at Tufts University. Currently, I am majoring in International Relations, concentrating in International Finance and minoring in Entrepreneurial Leadership and Chinese.

I am so excited to be continuing as a part of the College Fashionista team. This past summer I reported the street trends in Seattle, WA and I look forward to doing the same over in Boston, MA. I was born and raised in Seattle, WA, but also grew up traveling to a lot of different cities including Taipei, L.A., Shanghai, Vegas, and NYC. My experiences and time within these cities have really shaped my understanding of fashion and thus, has changed my own personal style.

I would describe my personal style as comfort chic. In my closet you will find a mix of statement pieces, versatile pieces and a whole lot of black. Not only is fashion a form of expression, but it is also a creative outlet. I believe that the perfect outfit isn’t one out of a magazine or one that you’ve seen someone sport, but it is one that you feel most confident in. Wear what you want to wear and everything will turn out the way it is supposed to be.

Today I am wearing a Slouchy Boyfriend Blazer by Mural over a J.Crew cami dress. I love the dress and blazer look because it is the perfect balance between a masculine and feminine look. I am also a huge fan of colorful blazers. I think that adding a pop of color piece to a dark toned look is not only playful but also adds another dimension of style. For shoes I am wearing the Floral Perforated Wedge Sandal by Tory Burch and on my wrists I am sporting the 42mm Apple Watch, a Chan Luu and a Tai pinch bracelet.

For me, fashion acts as an extension of not only an individual’s personality, but also an extension of the environment in which they are surrounded by. As fashion evolves from city to city, from season to season, I am beyond excited to be a part of the CollegeFashionista team. Stay tuned for my posts as I report the trends throughout the streets of Boston.
