STYLE GURU BIO: Steph DiGuiseppe

In my mind the phrase “too much black” does not exist. Something about dressing in black always adds a sense of chic to a look. Since black is such a solid tone, wearing pieces that has bold statements to them is okay because it is the perfect amount of subtle and bold. A lot of styles that are in today tend to focus on angles and shapes within their clothing. The latest 2015 Balmain show represents this trend immensely. Now although many of the pieces shown throughout the Balmain show are colorful, they are shaped together perfectly to make a constant blend of color and excitement. I used the use of shapes like Balmain in my outfit choice to add a statement to my casual everyday attire.

My black tank from Free People can double as casual and chic at the same time making it perfect for wearing to class or wearing out on the town at night with friends as well. This is because the blouse is black and slightly baggy, making it not too bold and extremely comfortable. But what really pulls this top away from the others is the definitive shapes outlining my upper chest. Like most of the angle/shape focused pieces in the Balmain show, this top uses shapes to make it unique. Aside from the statement top, I styled it with light-washed denim shorts to add a causal touch the top since this was my outfit to class from a boutique in New Jersey called “B&B.”

Aside from the top and bottoms, the accessories in my outfit are probably my favorite part. Accessorizing can take an outfit from zero to hero in a second. The black classic wide-brim hat from Urban Outfitters truly dresses the outfit up ten times more than what it was without the hat. It is an extremely simple touch if you are just looking to chic up your outfit. Aside from the hat, I never leave my house without my Silence + Noise black and gold, three pocket purse also from Urban Outfitters. Complementing the purse is an oversized, boho ring from PacSun with dark toned bracelets as well. I also cannot get enough of my D’Blanc Vast Minority leopard rose gradient colored glasses. These glasses are bold and chic adding to the casual look. And finally, I walk away in my black and gold Steve Madden sandals.
