STYLE GURU BIO: Skye Hagood

What’s good, my fashion loving people?  I’m super excited to start off 2016 as a Style Guru with CollegeFashionista. What a #RAD way to bring the New Year in, am I right? First thing’s first: My name is Skye Hagood, and I’m a junior at James Madison University who’s majoring in Media Arts and Design. With concentrations in Journalism and Creative Writing, I aspire to pursue a career in the entertainment, broadcast or fashion industries.

A self-proclaimed Fashionista from the age of three—blame it on the many dance costumes obtained through life—I’d say my style is very eclectic. I love classic items revamped with cool accessories and accent pieces to give my outfits that complete look. As the seasons change, my style budget does not. I’m all for ballin’ on a budget and finding pieces that won’t break the bank, but are of good quality. However, as with anything, some items are worth splurging on.

The majority of items I own can be worn across multiple seasons. As I’m out shopping, I usually ask myself, “Can this be worn in at least two of the four seasons?” Of course, exceptions exist since there are staple items that are essential season to season. I love the versatility of being able to style pieces in line with the season. Dresses and skirts are two of my favorite items because they’re easy to throw on.

In my featured outfit, I amped up a ribbed swing dress with an oversized blanket scarf appropriate for the coming wintry weather. Keeping this in mind, I paired these patterned tights with my favorite pair of cutout heeled booties. I preferred a patterned pair versus solid tights to further contrast the simplicity of my swing dress. I kept my jewelry minimal, opting for pearl stud earrings. I matched my burgundy ensemble with NYX’s liquid lipstick in Vintage.

Thanks for reading! I’m pumped to start my first semester with CollegeFashionista, so stay tuned for more fabulous fashion and articles.
