STYLE GURU BIO: Sierra Stridiron

Hello fellow Style Gurus, it’s your girl Sierra Stridiron here for another semester with CollegeFashionista. I’m a computer science major and fashion and lifestyle blogger at Born in the Know.

This past July I turned 20 and I’ve been really evolving, going out of my comfort zone, and embracing my inner millennial. I’m now an Uber everywhere-ing, Airbnb-ing, Insta-feed-obsessing Gen Z girl. So naturally most of my closet consists of Forever 21, ASOS, and name brand stuff I scored from thrift store crawling—money doesn’t grow on trees!

My Instagram feed consists mostly of style icons like Kylie Jenner and Solange. My highly recommended YouTube channels for any Style Guru are The Line Up, Clothes Encounters, and Vagabond Youth. I religiously follow social media influencers of color, plus size bloggers, and email subscriptions such as The Newsette and Who What Wear.

My style is pretty much a dream collab of Yeezy x Vetements sold at Target. I love wearing one item that’s really “extra” with the rest of the outfit being nude tones or all-black. My everyday look usually includes chunky heeled boots and denim, for sure.

I’m really channeling the “lampshade” trend of wearing oversized pieces that hit right above my over the knee boots. I got this mock neck dress from the Contemporary section of Forever 21. The material is amazing and the long sleeves are great for enduring the cold weather in style.

I absolutely love these black suede OTK boots I scored from Public Desire during Black Friday. The pointed toe makes the outfit look a bit more polished, while the chunky heel allows for a fun night on the town. Business in the front, party in the back – am I right?

In an attempt to keep the look as minimal as possible, I opted for an accessory with function. A watch, in general, is a classic staple everyone should have. I recommend investing in one that’s unique to you and not one you’ve seen reappearing in your Insta feed. This rose gold watch has an iridescent marble face with 4 inset diamonds. Definitely a conversation starter.

My goals for this semester are to be more confident in the decisions I make, pursue happiness without reservation, and to dedicate more time to self-love. I’m embracing my inner fashion diva online and IRL, and I hope the year ahead includes travel, new experiences, and people that support all of my endeavors. Here’s to a great semester.
