STYLE GURU BIO: Natalie Khouri

January 6th, 2015 at 2:00am

Hello to my beautiful Fashionistas and Fashionistos! My name is Natalie Khouri and I am a sophomore at Elon University. I’m a social media obsessed marketing major and finance minor with a passion for correcting outfit faux pas. After a brief break in the fall with CollegeFashionista, this is going to be my third semester sharing my fashion discoveries with you all!

Fashion has always been the one thing that I’m good at—that one thing that I could always expect a compliment for. My love of fashion began at a very young age. I was always attempting to draw new styles to show off to my family, claiming that I would one day be the best designer out there. Keep in mind that I also thought The Cheetah Girls made a real good fashion statement with the half jeans half shorts pants combo.

I’ve always been a visual person, and fashion is all about being visual. Fashion magazines have always been my bible, and I’m that girl who always skips over the editorials. I go straight to pictures because that’s when words are understood best. Fashion is my way of understanding myself, and understanding everyone else.

To this day, I still have yet to find a certain style that defines my taste. Some days, I’m in the mood to dress like Sunshine Barbie, but on others, I adore bringing out the black on black. It’s all about my personality and how I feel about that day or night. If there’s one thing I know, it’s that I’m addicted to dressing up. Any occasion that lets me bring out the five-inch heels and nude lipstick is my nirvana. The mere thought of me strutting down the streets of New York City dressed like Serena van der Woodsen makes me believe I’ve already died and gone to heaven.

Although I live by the statement, “Beauty is pain,” there’s nothing wrong with a great pair of leggings, neutral oversized sweaters and cozy knee socks under my riding boots. Being a basic white girl is also one of my specialities. A pumpkin spice latte will always be a girl’s best accessory (well, after diamonds, of course).

I’ll be spending most of January keeping you all updated on the latest Parisian fashions as I spend my winter term in France, but after that, I’ll be back to the southern-yet-northern chic trends of Elon! Au revoir!
