STYLE GURU BIO: Megan Mathewson

As a returning Style Guru, I have learned a lot about fashion this past fall. Fashionistas have to change with the seasons and think about fashion from head to toe. This takes some improvisation, which brings me to my motto for fashion: improvise and accessorize!

One thing I have come to strongly believe is that you can never have enough basics. Not only are basics great for layering, they truly stand the test of time and are the go-to items to improvise with for when you aren’t sure what to wear. This burgundy skirt is a classic color that can be paired with many neutral colors to achieve a classy, feminine look. For this outfit, I chose a white shirt that I tucked in. Just because it is winter, doesn’t mean you have to ditch the skirt! If it’s too cold to go out with bare legs, wear some tights to protect from the winter chill.

Next, we get to the accessorizing portion of the outfit. In other words, my absolute favorite part! Seriously, if you ever need to find me in the mall, you can probably find me in the accessories portion of any store. Scarves, jewelry, shoes and jackets are the items I mainly shop for. In this case, I added a quilted, beige jacket to keep warm. The shoes are by one of my favorite designers, Michael Kors, adding a little bit of an edge to the classic bootie with a raised heel. Notice how all of the metal embellishments on my outfit match. I am more partial to gold, but I always make sure to pay attention to this detail when putting together an outfit.

All of this being said, I am excited for another #RAD semester of finding the latest trends on campus, and I could not be more excited to test out some new styles myself!
