STYLE GURU BIO: Lexie Rains

Hi there! My name is Alexis Rains, but I go by Lexie. Currently, I am a Fashion Merchandising student at Kent State University, which is ranked third in the nation for fashion. Since Kent has such an amazing fashion program, Fashionista/os from all over the world attend; thus, creating a sea of impeccably dressed students on a daily basis! The best part about that is each person has their own unique style, so you never know what you’ll see when you enter the fashion building.

For me, art has always been my true passion. Eventually as I got older, I realized that not only could I express my art on paper but with my own personal style through fashion. In high school, I began to really experiment with my clothing to find my style. This led to my love for thrift shopping or as my mom and myself call it, “treasure shopping”. Most of my closet consists of things from thrift stores, flea markets and antique shops. Another factor to finding my personal style are my music idols: Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix. I aspire to recreate the looks from the late ’60s and early ’70s with my own personal touches.

I choose the look I created above because I believe it depicts my style the best. Boho maxi skirts and crop tops are my go to look. They can easily go from a day to night outfit, not to mention they are both unbelievably comfortable. When it comes to accessories, I think you can never have enough. I never leave the house without both hands filled with rings, a few stacked bracelets and layers of necklaces. Go BLING, or go home (I mean BIG). Also, I am a shoe fanatic! You can never go wrong with a nice strappy nude heel, right!?

I am beyond excited to be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista and I can’t wait to show you all the inside look at Kent State University! I hope you are all ready for a RAD weekly read.
