STYLE GURU BIO: Katie Christopoulos

Hello again, Fashionistas/os, my name is Katie Christopoulos and I am a junior majoring in marketing at Sacred Heart University, Connecticut. I am ecstatic to say this is my second time being a Style Guru for the CollegeFashionista team for the fall semester. I can’t wait to be a part of this rad experience once again, and to show my elaborate taste that I share with fashion alongside all of you!

The fashion world has always been of interest to me ever since being in high school leading all the way up to my college days as a junior. Fashion has been that one aspect of my life where I could play around with different styles. Over the years, my fashion taste has evolved tremendously. Moreover, I always like to try out new things—such as styles and trends—and see what best fits my personality, while achieving that quality look at the same time. But let me tell you, fashion has always been there for me; in fact, it has shaped me into the person I’ve become today. As mentioned earlier, as I gain more experience being a Style Guru, I hope to learn new concepts so I can improve the fashion world.

Personally, everyone is entitled to their own sense of style and what makes them who they are and who they want to be. That is why I love fashion because it’s something where a person is able to represent themselves in a way they couldn’t before. It’s important that you feel comfortable, confident and most importantly, yourelf in what you wear. You never want to let someone’s opinion of your fashion define the person you want to be. If you like what you’re wearing, then hey, flaunt it.

This fall, I opted for the off-the-shoulder trend. This pretty, flowy top features an elastic neckline where it doesn’t restrain any movement, a cold shoulder and short sleeves. I love the black, edgy vibe it gives off. This top can be worn for any occasion, whether your willing to dress it up or down. It easily has become one of my essential wardrobe favorites and my go-to top. Also, I chose to pair it with a distressed denim look, but you have the choice of pairing it with patterned prints or even a skirt for that matter. Lastly, I went for that mod-ish fit with wearing a pair of black heel booties and a red-patterned bandana to complete the overall look.

Almost all newly improved and trendy fashion looks can be discovered all over college campuses. At SHU, I can speak highly about how we are a very stylish campus with such a diverse taste in fashion worn by college-aged students, including myself. Almost everyday, fashion plays a vital role in how we present ourselves to the world and shows our creative side—nevertheless what makes us unique within our fashionable sense. This fall, I am determined to show you all variations of style that are of interest to me, while also inspiring other Fashionistas/os to express themselves and be their own person when it comes to appearance.
