STYLE GURU BIO: Jilian Molokwu

Hello Fashionistas! I am so excited to be back writing for CollegeFashionista! My name is Jilian Molokwu and I am a freshman at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I have met a lot of great people this past semester and have seen a lot of great looks on campus. Writing for CollegeFashionista has helped me realized how much I enjoy writing and fashion photography. In my time outside of my blog, I have started to build a photography portfolio of my work that I hope I can use in future career opportunities.

There are many aspects of myself that I plan on working on this new year, but if I had to narrow it down to two things it would be the following: finding my own personal sense of style and gaining a strong sense of responsibility and initiative.

The year 2017 is the year of decluttering for me. Over break I came to my senses and finally cleaned out my closet. As I sifted through the many drawers and hangers in my room, I found that there were items in my closet that I had never even worn! I had been so caught up in trends that I forgot to take the time to figure out if the current trend was something I even thought was in style. After my closet clean out, I have made the promise to myself that I will not engage in any mindless shopping. What I will be doing is watching fashion trends and really think whether or not it fits in with my personal style. I’m sticking to the basics like a warm cardigan, thigh high boots and a great pair of skinny jeans. I’m excited about the opportunity that CollegeFashionista is going to give me where I can showcase my updated sense of personal style, so you’re definitely going to want to keep an eye out for my future blog posts.

Another aspect of myself that I think is important in my 2017 journey is gaining a sense of responsibility. I plan to procrastinate less, especially on my blog posts, because let’s be honest, we all occasionally leave things to the last second. This year I am taking initiative. I am going to apply for the internships and jobs that I would normally wait until the last second to do. I’m going to go to networking events because I know that if I put the time and effort in now, the connections I make will pay off in the long run. The year 2017 is the year of taking action to build myself into the person that gets things done.

This is the year of bigger and better, not just for me, but for anybody that is ready to put the work in. Thanks for reading! I can’t wait to share my fashion perspective with all you amazing readers.
