STYLE GURU BIO: Jennifer Drury

Fun Fact: I kept my hair cut shoulder length for years. Last summer, I was inspired by the bohemian style to grow my hair out. Here we are now, one year later, and I am absolutely loving my long locks! I’m Jen, by the way. I’m going to be a junior this fall at Fairleigh Dickinson University, and I’m majoring in Communications and minoring in Business Administration. This will be my first semester at CollegeFashionista, and I am beyond excited.

I love to write––when I was little, I wrote my own stories and novels. As I grew, I started writing poetry. (I created my own poetry blog that I still frequently update). When it came time to start thinking about a career, I knew journalism was the right path for me. My dream job would be to work on radio or television, though a lot of my experience thus far has been in digital and print journalism. CollegeFashionista will be my first experience writing fashion journalism.

I like to dress to impress every single day. Fashion is an expressive art form that says a lot about an individual. I think of every outfit I wear as a part of my personality. Since I like to try lot of different things and get bored easily, I want my outfits to be fun and change too. That is why I do not define myself with one specific style and why I play with different options. I am also very obsessed with eye makeup and jewelry. I particularly love experimenting with different eyeshadow shades, and I always have to accessorize with rings and earrings. As mentioned before, I have recently been inspired by bohemian style for summer. Though it is still on the chilly side where I live, I can’t wait to wear more bohemian inspired clothes in the warmer weather.

The outfit in the picture is one of my favorite summer outfits. I usually wear it with high-waisted American Eagle Outfitters black shorts. Though, because it has been cold lately, I had to settle for wearing their high-waisted jeggings instead. Under my lovely crocheted shirt, I am wearing an earthy green bralette from Victoria’s Secret PINK.  On my eyes, I’m wearing my favorite Shiseido eyeliner, along with a touch of purple eyeshadow from Urban Decay’s eyeshadow palette, Naked2.  Purple really makes my eye color pop. (I have a never-ending debate going with my mom about whether my eyes are really blue or green––I think they’re green).

More about me: I am absolutely obsessed with cupcakes and Alice in Wonderland, I’ve met Taylor Swift before, and, CollegeFashionista is one of three internships I will be taking on this summer. Ever since I got the news I would be a Style Guru for CollegeFashionista, I have been counting down the days until summer starts! It’s finally here, and I can’t wait to write about the outfits I discover. This will definitely be a #RAD summer!
