Hey, Fashionistas/os! My name is Hollis Young and I am currently a freshman at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, VA. I am studying Health Sciences in hopes of becoming a future Occupational Therapist. My hometown is shortly outside of Washington, D.C., about 30 minutes in a town called South Riding, VA. Although I am so close to the city there is rarely anything to do in my hometown besides eating and shopping. This, unfortunately, is what caused my clothing addiction.
It is hard to pinpoint my exact style, especially since it changes every day. The simplest way to put it in words would be that I consider myself a mix between American Apparel and American Eagle Outfitters. By this, I mean that I constantly find myself in edgier, simplistic clothes that some days give off a boho-chic look and other days more urban-esque. Most of the clothes I wear come in mostly muted or dark shades such as gray, black, plum, navy blue and army green; there is not a day that I am not wearing at least one of those colors. Along with the edgy, simplistic clothes my typical shoe is a single toned sneaker or my favorite staple shoe, my patent leather Dr. Martens boots.
The brands I typically find myself in are (of course) American Eagle Outfitters, about half my wardrobe comes from this store; on some days, I look as though I hoped out of their catalog. The other half of my wardrobe comes from Brandy Melville, the hidden gem I stumbled across years ago. Both brands really embody my style and help me achieve my boho-urban feel for a decent price. Although I do support the “quality over quantity” motto, these two brands offer quality at a reasonable price, which has drawn me to them.
My love of clothes and ability to notice the smallest details has led me to easily recognize trends in fashion. Along with this, I love to share my personal style with others, and learn about designers and brands they love as well. These reasons are why I decided to be a CollegeFashionista Style Guru and I cannot wait for an amazing semester!
